Coalpit Welsh Cakes

Erika and her son Michael have a fantastic emotive brand that captures the history of the valleys and it's coal mining past.  

 

My own grandfather was a miner, so when it came to creating a bespoke traditional tin-style box for selling Welsh Cakes, I put my heart into it. The cakes are delicious and novel, they make black versions (likened to coal), and the box packaging just enhances the novelty. 

Rose from Zenith Print and Packaging provided the carton print/production and the design work was funded by the Cywain food and drink initiative. Following the Welsh cake box, I created an exhibition back drop for their stand at the Royal Welsh Show, and have since supported Erika with coaching for marketing. The brand, the stories and the attention to detail that Erika puts into her brand sets her apart. A great client to work with.
